Energie braucht eine Richtung. Seit jeher navigieren wir über unseren Planeten, zunächst anhand stiller Sterne, dann mit Hilfe kleiner Kompassnadeln, die im unsichtbaren Magnetfeld des Globus liegen.
Das Feld wird durch den flüssigen Eisenkern erzeugt, der im tiefsten Inneren des Erdballes fließt. Ganz unvorhersehbar erzeugen die Ströme des Magmas einen Geodynamo, der unseren magnetischen Norden, die Grundlage der Navigation, bestimmt. Die am Südpol austretenden Elektronen umrunden die Erde, dringen am Nordpol wieder ein und erzeugen eine Atmosphäre, die Sonnenwinde und kosmische Strahlen abschirmt. Sie wird sichtbar, wenn Plasma in ihr verglüht und Polarlichter erzeugt. Die Atmosphäre bietet Schutz und ermöglicht Orientierung.
Im vergangenen Jahr verschob sich der Norden, der Fluchtpunkt unserer Koordinaten, um über 50 Kilometer in Richtung Sibirien. Wohin er wandert, weiß nur er.

Energy needs a direction. We have been navigating our way around our planet since time began, first by following the silent stars, then with the aid of tiny compass needles that lie in the invisible magnetic field of the globe.
That field is generated by the liquid core of iron flowing in the depths of the earth. Wholly unpredictably, the magma flows create a geodynamo that determines our magnetic north, the basis of navigation. The electrons emitted at the South Pole circle the earth, re-enter it at the North Pole and create an atmosphere that shields the earth from solar winds and cosmic rays. This becomes visible when plasma in the atmosphere burns up, creating polar lights. The atmosphere
provides protection and enables us to take our bearings.
Last year, the North, the vanishing point of our coordinates, shifted more than
50 kilometres towards Siberia. Which direction it takes, only it knows.
