A new identity for the municipal art museum.
The Kunstmuseum Bochum is a relatively young institution. It opened in 1960 in the Villa
Marckhoff-Rosenstein and was expanded to its present size in 1983 with a new building by
the Danish architects Jørgen Bo and Vilhelm Wohlert. The museum collects and exhibits
modern and contemporary art and competes with the dense cultural landscape on the Rhine and Ruhr.
